Complex Load Share application made easy with DSE controllers

Turkey

Reliable power was essential to the company's daily operations so they decided to install 4 emergency power generator sets with a total capacity of 6.6MVA. Controlled by DSE8610s, the generators can synchronise and share the full load of the factory in the event of a complete power failure on all nine supplies, but can also load share with live mains supplies in the event of failures on only one to eight.

The  nine incoming mains supplies are monitored by DSE8660s and in the event of a power failure will communicate automatically with the DSE8610s, which will then begin the start-up procedures to bring the generator(s) on-line.  The intelligent systems of the DSE8610 automatically take control of all aspects of synchronising and load sharing of the four generators and depending on power requirements, will share the load across #one, #two, # three or #four.   If a live supply is present on one or more of the incoming mains, the system (DSE8660 + DSE8610) automatically handles all aspects of load sharing with the mains supply to provide additional power as required, and will provide a no-break return when power is resumed, cooling down and stopping the generators.

The standby power system is integrated into a larger PLC system using the MODBUS connections from the DSE controllers.  This enables engineers and plant managers to have total control within the larger framework of their BMS system.
